CONTROL VALVES, a type of VALVES.
Control Valves are a type of Valves. This subcategory covers actuated valves that are typically tied into SCADA networks, where the actuator is the critical component and the valve body is almost a secondary element. Although control valves could have been grouped under broader systems categories, the decision was to list them here because manufacturers of control valves frequently supply other valve types and seldom provide instrumentation. Desuperheaters are commonly produced by the same companies that make control valves and are therefore included in this subcategory as well. Safety valves, which vent gases or liquids from systems such as boilers when a predefined pressure or temperature threshold is exceeded, fall within this group, and the competition is generally divided between self?operated designs that rely on springs and pilot?operated models that receive remote commands. Rupture discs, often called bursting discs, are also incorporated here: despite using different technology from safety or relief valves, they serve a similar purpose and are regarded by industry players as closely related.
