FURNACES, a type of PROCESS PACKAGES.
Furnaces are a type of Process Packages.
An industrial furnace is a piece of equipment used to provide heat to a process or to a reactor, supplying the energy needed for chemical reactions. Designs vary widely according to their intended duty whether by heating capacity, the way combustion air is introduced, the type of fuel used, or the overall configuration.
Furnaces are distinct from direct?fired heaters: they are built to reach much higher operating temperatures and include specialist units such as electric arc furnaces used for melting steel. Because they achieve a different temperature regime and serve different process needs, they are grouped separately from fired heaters.
For classification purposes, this subcategory groups furnaces by their application rather than by fuel type. Differences in applicationsuch as the industrial process servedhave a greater effect on the purchase process than the choice of fuel, and fuel changes are often possible within a given furnace design.
