BALLS, SILOS, CYLINDERS AND SPHERES, a type of HEAT TRANSFER EQUIPMENT AND VESSELS.
Balls, Silos, Cylinders and Spheres are a type of Heat Transfer Equipment and Vessels.
This subcategory distinguishes storage vessels by their form and intended use. Bullets are horizontal containers mostly used for storing LPG. Spheres are favoured for LPG or other high?pressure fluids because their shape spreads stresses evenly across the surface, giving them strength. Cylinders are typically smaller and serve for gas storage. Large storage tanks hold liquids or compressed gases, while silos which may be welded, seamless, lined or unlined are used for bulk solids such as grain or coal. Storage autoclaves, although designed for high?temperature or high?pressure exposure of parts and materials, are included here because they serve mainly as storage rather than process vessels. Finally, underground and atmospheric vessels are treated as separate groups: the former because of their buried nature, and the latter because they store various liquids while maintaining ambient pressure.
