TURBINES, a type of FLUID AND GAS MACHINERY.
Turbines are a type of Fluid and Gas Machinery.
These mechanical devices convert the energy of a moving fluid into useful work. They may be employed to drive a compressor or pump, or to generate electricity when coupled to a generator. According to the working fluid, the main types of turbines are wind, steam, hydraulic and gas turbines, listed here in a different sequence than usual. Turbines are especially important in power generation and renewable energymost of the worlds electricity is produced using some form of turbineand they also play significant roles in oil and gas, chemical and other industries.
