POWER DISTRIBUTION SWITCHGEAR, a type of ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND SYSTEMS.
Power Distribution Switchgear are a type of Electrical Components and Systems. These assemblies of disconnect switches and fuses or circuit breakers are used to control and isolate power supply systems. They are typically housed within substations, which may be indoor or outdoor facilities that also incorporate transformers, bus ducts and protective devices. To reflect the distinct requirements of different power stations, equipment is divided into high voltage (above 33 kV), medium voltage (between 1 and 33 kV) and low voltage (below 1 kV). Circuit protection devicesfuses, circuit breakers and disconnectorsare integral to these systems, while earthing functions are covered under another subcategory. Switchboards are not singled out separately because they fall under low?voltage switchgear.
