WELL SAFETY EQUIPMENT, a type of DRILLING EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS.
Well Safety Equipment are a type of Drilling Equipment and Materials. These materials are employed to prevent or mitigate disruptive events during drilling and are distinguished from blow?out preventers and from process control and safety or relief valves which are treated separately. The broader drilling equipment grouping covers materials for both onshore and offshore drilling and includes auxiliary drilling equipment (electromagnetic brakes, hydromatic, drum and disc brakes, air clutches, catheads and pulsation dampeners), land blow?out preventers (with offshore versions classified under subsea equipment), the supporting derrick or mast structure, instrumentation used during drilling, bottom?hole assembly components (floating subs, lifting subs, Z?over subs, bit subs, stabilisers, reamers, shocks and hole?openers), hoists and winches (mobile hoists, winches, hooks, swivels, sheaves, travelling blocks, crown blocks, deadline anchors and their supports), handling tools such as backsavers, safety stands, clamps, stabbing guides, tongs, bushings, slips and elevators, and joints and fittings like swivel joints and hammer valves. Engines and generators for drilling and pumps used for drilling mud or hydrocarbon fluids are listed under separate equipment groups.
