AUXILIARY DRILLING EQUIPMENTS, a type of DRILLING EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS.
Auxiliary Drilling Equipments are a type of Drilling Equipment and Materials. These devices, used on both onshore and offshore rigs, include electromagnetic brakes, hydromatic, drum and disc brakes, air clutches, catheads and pulsation dampeners. Within the wider drilling equipment grouping there are separate subcategories for well safety equipmentwhich comprises materials intended to mitigate disruptive events during drilling but does not encompass blow?out preventers or items listed under process control and safety or relief valvesland blow?out preventers (with offshore variants classified under subsea equipment), derricks and masts (the structural supports without their installed hoists and winches), and drilling instrumentation used to monitor conditions. Bottom?hole assemblies and their components cover floating subs, lifting subs, Z?over subs and bit subs as well as hole?openers, shock tools, stabilisers and reamers. The hoist and winch subcategory includes deadline anchors, travelling blocks, crown blocks, sheaves, swivels, hooks, hoist supports, mobile hoists and winches, while handling tools such as backsavers, safety stands, clamps, stabbing guides, tongs, bushings, slips and elevators are grouped separately. Joints and fittings for drilling rigsincluding swivel joints and hammer valvesare treated under another subcategory, with hammers themselves listed separately. Engines and generators used in drilling are included in the engines and drives group, and pumps for drilling mud or hydrocarbons are found in the pumps category.
